Description
If you’ve ever had a younger sibling, you’re well familiar with the unadulterated joy found in recreationally picking on a tiny helpless human being. You’re also familiar with the crippling, karmic fear that washes over you when that sibling grows up. The Portastand Minstrel 2.0 is that sibling, and it’s been hitting the gym. It limbos with the best of ’em, reaching mere feet off the floor for the seated player. It hops like a champ, extending to full face level for the standing musician. Its tripod features our all-new Superior Pro Clutch design. With our signature all-metal powder-coated construction, no plastic parts, and an almost unsettling bench-pressing ability, the Minstrel can fold flat and lift the most brick-like of laptops, tablets, or music scores with the strength of your little brother after that horrifying mid-’90s growth spurt—then fold up in an instant and disappear into the nearest closet, so Mom will probably blame you for the whole thing anyway. Not that we’re compensating for our difficult childhoods or anything.

I am normally too lazy and complacent to write reviews for products, but I just have to say, this is the best portable stand on the market right now and I’m surprised more people haven’t discovered it. For the last year, I have been on a perpetual search for a portable stand suitable for rigorous community orchestra use, and many have fallen short. I have tried everything from folding full desks, to one-handed adjustable mechanisms, to the traditional wire folding stand, and none have been able to provide in the way that I wanted them to. I imagined a solid desk with a substantial base, so I don’t have to worry about the dreaded page-turn wobble or punching a hole through music trying to write on it, that could all be folded and carried easily (without needing a proprietary case), and the Minstrel does exactly that; it is essentially the perfect stand I had imagined in my head and was looking for. The size is absolutely perfect (a portable stand with a 19- to 21-inch desk is hardly portable!), and the weight is very manageable. It fits easily into my existing music bag, though I’m sure the carrying case would be just as superb as the stand itself. I’m so glad to have found your stands, but also sad that I didn’t earlier. Thank you, and very very well done.

It truly is the best on the planet! Great seller, fast shipper . . . If you’ve struggled with a portable stand before, you’ll love this one. Best stand I’ve ever encountered, and a tremendous value for the money . . . compact, sturdy, seems like it will last. Thank you!

The first person I showed the Minstrel stand to absolutely had to have it.

I purchased this all-metal stand because I was tired of other collapsible stands snapping apart at the top joint. This Portastand product won’t have that problem. When I first saw how small it was, I was a little concerned about its stability, but it turns out to work perfectly well, even in outdoor wind. Overall, it’s portable, strong, and reliable.

Excellent product. Wonderful to have a solid desk whenever you might need to take notes and not too large when space is at a premium during concerts. I use mine for orchestra, classes and workshops. I have even used it without the base, as a table top stand in my small RV. The base is very sturdy and the whole setup is satisfyingly solid..

Great stand.. Best part of this music stand is that it can be lowered to 17″ off the stage floor enabling it to blend in with the monitors.
This way you can have your set list and cheat sheets available, but not up and in the sight lines of the audience.
The Minstrel also elevates to a standard height.. Our drummer uses his for his metronome, etc.
The stand breaks down & fits easily into our over-stuffed van, other “standard” music stands do not..
Highly recommended! Purchase the carry bag as well :)
