Troubadour 2.0 is built for the stage, the pit, the service, the tour, and every page in between.
When you’re carrying full scores, a tablet, charts, or a laptop, you don’t want to think about stability. You want it handled.
The powder-coated aluminum desk holds large orchestral scores and auxiliary gear without flex. The custom all-metal tripod provides a wide, grounded footprint. Our Superior Pro Clutch system adjusts smoothly and locks with certainty.
It goes low for seated classical players. High for standing strings. Stable in either position.
The tailored 1000D Cordura® cover protects what matters — weatherproof, travel-ready, with integrated wind resistors and storage for the tools you carry.
Remove the tripod and the desk converts to a tabletop stand.
Folds compact. Engineered to travel. Set it once. Trust it through the final page turn.

The Most Versatile & Innovative Stand.
The Troubadour was created by a musician who was fed up with flimsy stands that break easily, tip over, or weren't portable. When he couldn’t find one stand that had everything he was looking for, he took matters into his own hands and built a stand that holds steady and packs easy.

I frickin love this music stand man. It is so durable, portable, and it is exactly what the Portastand describes it as, versatile.
You can see my other stand in the video here, and while its sturdy, its so hard to get in my truck. The Troubadour is just as sturdy, but it actually breaks down into a very convenient portable music stand.
Most portable stands are wayyy too flimsy. Not the Troubadour. You will not be disappointed with this music stand folks.
It is a very nice stand. I was please my StandOuts fit on the desk and the cover can still fit, though tightly. Regarding the cover: One problem is the D-rings for fastening the carrying strap. Where they are currently placed, it folds back the corners of the overflap. They would be better placed sewn closer to the edge so the rings are sticking out the sides of the cover where they don't crimp the edges of the overlap (see photo). A second adjustment is on the straps that hold the pedestal. First, I would turn each strap into a two-part velcro strap so it could be tightened to taste rather than having fixed elastic straps that might stretch out over time. Second, though it would disturb the symmetry of the strap placement, move the left-most strap to the right where both straps wrap over the cluster of posts rather that one strap being loose over the single post (see photo).
Components are literally falling apart during my first and second time using the Portastand. I am actually astounded by this. There is a plastic inserts that a loose and no longer secured in place. I barely used it.
The elastic loops that are intended to secure the "tripod" base portion are too loose and the base slides through and has to be constantly repositioned. I suggest using velcro straps or webbing that can be cinched more tightly to hold base securely in place.
The "D" rings currently connecting the carrying strap to the loops on the fabric cover are already "misaligned" and will eventually fail because it is now hanging on a point load instead of spread out across the entire ring. The "D" ring could be improved by repacing it with a higher quality "D" ring without a joint.
The strap should be wider for greater comfort.
I bought this stand for my husband. He used a PortaStand for many years. This is an improved version of the previous music stand. It’s much lighter; he really likes it. He will use it for years to come.
The portastand is a beautiful color, well thought out, substantial stand that is easy to breakdown and transport. I have owned an original version for many years and now I have added the newer version which has an even better base.
Excellent stand! I play in a community band and we have outdoor concerts in the summer. This stand was very easy to transport and assemble. And it is very sturdy!
The stands seem very sturdy as well as portable. I am going to an adult band camp in August that requires we bring our own stands and I am very happy to see how easily these fold up and can be carried. And I love the colors! A way to stick out in the crowd!
I was so tired of looking for a music stand that could travel with me but not wobble every time I turn the page. The Troubadour is SOLID! It holds up very well with its wider base spread, and thicker stand. If you travel, whether its to practice or to gig, you want to have a Portastand product in your hands.
It truly is the best on the planet! Great seller, fast shipping, and an excellent product. If you’ve ever struggled with a portable stand before, you’ll love this one.
I recently purchased the Portastand Troubadour music stand. Finally, someone has got it right.
The design is BRILLIANT. I sit down most of the time when I perform. With a "normal" stand it winds up hiding me from the audience putting music on the floor is "too far away" for my over 40 eyes!
The Troubadour is PERFECT! I can put the music at knee level, still see the music, and the audience won't complain because they can still see the performance.
PLUS! the cover is just BRILLIANT! The legs fold up and fit in the straps on the back..... there's a place for pencils etc. PLUS! a couple of “Wind resistors” with a little hook on both ends to use to hold down your music...... This is IDEAL for playing outdoor gigs! NO MORE CLOTHESPINS or bulky sheets of plexiglass. BEAUTIFUL. If that wasn't enough..... the Troubadour telescopes "UP" as high as all the other stands on the market.
This is the BEST of all possible stands. CONGRATULATIONS on a BRILLIANT product. I give it my HIGHEST recommendation.
My Troubadour arrived today. Much sooner than I expected!
It is a beautifully designed music stand. I especially like that the desk lip cover helps protect the finish of my instruments.
The dark green color is attractive without asking for too much attention.
Thanks for this truly excellent music stand.
It’s awesome. STURDY. Very adjustable. Holds a lot of stuff…hasn’t needed to be portable yet, but will do nicely. VERY well made. My music stand troubles are over.❤️
Perfect stand. It is sturdy and has unexpected storage. Most of all, I love the fact that I can spread three sheets of music to play: great for the pieces my band plays.
I have not had a chance to use it yet, but it seems quite sturdy and portable. I use a plexiglass windshield to hold my music in place outdoors so not sure I will use the elastic bands. I will update my feedback after I use it
Initial shipment was missing the tri-pod stand!!!!
Company sent the stand promptly, which I appreciated.
Stand is sturdy with a heavy music book.
The side-rings for the carrying strap are awkwardly designed, so they "pull" the material; looks like they will tear off soon ... (I hope not!).
Medium score is for initial impression/problems; real score is probably 4/5 stars.
Received my Portastand a few weeks ago and have brought it to a number of rehearsals and gigs. Love how sturdy it is and how it keeps everything together, super easy to move and set up. Plus it feels like it will last for a while, which is fantastic in the this age of planned obsolescence. Highly recommended!
Although the stand is prettty sturdy, it is too heavy for me to carry around. I donated it to a raffle for my music camp, to help raise scholarship money.
Stand is working out great. Compact, easy to carry with shoulder strap, storage for other items (my iPad and pedal) and easy to set up. Highly recommended.
